Ingredients
Chalupa shell
- 500 g ready-made pizza dough (or 1 batch homemade)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- Oil for deep frying
Beef
- 250 g beef mince
- 1 tbsp taco seasoning
Toppings
- 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 4 tbsp sour cream
- 200 g three-cheese blend
Method
- Dough. Mix dough with olive oil, chili powder, salt, garlic powder. Roll into 4 thin discs (about 12 cm).
- Fry. Heat oil to 180°C. Lower one dough disc in. It should puff and turn golden in 1-2 minutes. Flip, cook 30 seconds more. Drain.
- Shape. Gently press the hot fried dough into a bowl shape to form the chalupa shell. Let cool and crisp up.
- Beef. Brown the beef in a pan. Add taco seasoning and 30 ml water. Simmer 5 minutes.
- Fill. Fill each shell with beef, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and three-cheese blend.
Tips
- Fry the dough until golden and puffy. Don’t submerge — just hot oil bath.
- Use ready-made pizza dough. Roll thin, fry, shape into a bowl.
- Don’t skip the seasoning on the dough. Chili powder + salt + garlic.
