Beef Taco

A crisp corn shell filled with seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce and tomato.

Ingredients

  • 200 g lean minced beef
  • 1 hard corn taco shell
  • 30 g grated cheese
  • 2 tbsp shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 tomato, diced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salsa, to serve
  • Salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Brown the mince in the oil over medium-high heat for 5 minutes, breaking it up as it goes until dark and cooked through.

  2. Drain the fat and stir through the cumin, chilli powder, salt and black pepper.

  3. Warm the taco shell in the oven at 180C for 3 minutes so it is hot and crisp but not brittle.

  4. Fill the shell with the seasoned beef.

  5. Top with the cheese, the lettuce and the diced tomato.

  6. Serve with salsa on the side.

Notes

Warm the shell before filling it. A cold shell cracks the moment you press the filling in.
