Spicy Chicken Burger
A fried chicken fillet with lettuce, tomato and a spicy mayo in a toasted bun.
Ingredients
- 1 large boneless chicken breast
- 1 sesame seed bun
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 100 g plain flour
- 2 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- Oil for frying
- Salt and black pepper
Method
-
Season the chicken with the paprika, garlic powder, salt and black pepper. Pound it to an even thickness so it cooks evenly.
-
Combine the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper in a shallow bowl.
-
Heat a shallow layer of oil in a pan to 170C.
-
Dip the chicken in the seasoned flour, pressing it on firmly to coat both sides.
-
Fry for 4 to 5 minutes a side until golden and cooked through. Drain on a wire rack.
-
Mix the mayonnaise with the hot sauce to make a spicy mayo.
-
Toast the bun cut side down for 2 minutes.
-
Spread the spicy mayo on both sides, then build the burger with lettuce, chicken and tomato.
-
Press the top down and serve straight away.
Notes
Pound the chicken to an even thickness before coating it. An uneven fillet cooks unevenly and the thin part turns dry.
